WHAT IS THE REASON FOR THE GROUND PIN IS BIGGER IN SIZE
COMPARING TO OTHER PINS?

Answer / shiva
bcoz, when we r pluging into the power suppy that earth pin
only touches first compared to other two pins.. if it s
there any fault current or over current present means it
will be grounded.. for our equipment protection purpose only
its being like that...

Answer / venu
because as the diameter increases resistance decreases wen
ever a ground fault occurs by the body short of any
equipment it creates a very low resistance path to dicharge
through it

You may be see the earth pin is longer & bigger in diameter.due to more dia. its pin resistance would be less & due to longer size as compare other two pins, earth pin come in contact of circuit first so. for safety point of view we need your apparatus / instrument connect with earth first. Under fault condition, the faulty current will be flow through earth pin S0. you & your instrument/ apparatus is safe

Current carrying capacity increases with the increase in
sizes. During abnormal condition high current will be
discharged to general mass of earth and accordingly
proctective device in the system will get operated faster
and equipment will get isolated immediately.

The ground pin is longer so when you insert the plug, the
earth connection is made to the equipment first.
When you remove the plug, the earth connection is removed
last. This is for the user safety.
It is bigger so you can not insert the plug in any other
way. The smaller pins on the plug can go into the larger
hole, but the larger pin will never go into a smaller hole.
So any live wire cannot be connected to the body of the
equipment.

when a fault occurs a large amount of current is drawn from
earth wire hence more thickness is required to avoid
insulation breakdown

because when fault occur large amount of current will flow
and this bigger pin directly ground dat current without any
damage.dats y
