Circuit Breaker is a automatic device while isolator
operates manually
| Is This Answer Correct ? | 5 Yes | 0 No |
Answer / mick
A circuit breaker is designed to automtically open the live
line if the current exceeds its rating - i.e. a 5A circuit
breaker will open and disconnect the live line should the
current exceed 5A. It primary purpose is to automtically
disconnect the live under a fault.
A isolator is usaully a hand operated device that will
disconnect the live and the neutral. Manly used to allow
work to be carried out on equipment (a motor for example).
Normally an isolator will have some way of being 'locked
off' so that the equipment cannot be energised. It does not
have an automatic function.

we can operate the isolator only manually.
But we can operate the cb Automatically with the help of a
relay and manually also

Isolator is an off line usable device. That means we are
using it for maintenance purpose. But Circuit breaker is a
switching device to use in On line .

Answer / nikesh
Circuit breaker is switch which operate manually during no load condition and operate automatically during fault condition or Isolater is operate off load condition after operate circuit breaker.

Answer / chiranjit mondal
circuit breaker operates on load condition i.e it can break
inductive or capacitive current but isolator operates at no
current condition i.e itoperates when no current is flowing
through it.
