Answer / omar aziz
ELCB= Earth Leakage circuit breaker
RCCB= Residual current circuit breaker
elcb looks for current flowing in the earh wire and is it
does not equate to the phase current , earth leakage is
detected an the CB trips.
rccb looks for the residual current ,by adding the phasor
current . upon any imbalance the CB trips on residual earth
fault.

The ELCB works on the principle that the total amount of
current flowing thro the phase is returned thro neutral. if
not so , elcb trip the circuit.
For RCCB, i agree with ans 1 & 3

Answer / karthik
RCCB: detects current imbalance.but does not provide over
current protection.
ELCB: detects earth current directly rather than detecting
imbalance.

ELCB= Earth Leakage circuit breaker
RCCB= Residual current circuit breaker
both are same..the objective of elcb is continuous
monitoring of insulation levels of electrical installation
and equipments and also detect any leakage current flow to
earth
