Why thwe Direction of Rotation of a TABLE Fan & CEILING Fan are different? ..

Answer / shashank saxena

Actually basic difference is in Construction part.

In ceiling fan stator winding is done on inner part ie. the ceiling fixing rod, and the rotor winding is done on outer side ie. on main body of the fan.

In case of table fan, stator winding is done over the rotor winding, ie. Rotor winding is done on Shaft, which rotates under the influence of the magnetic field of Stator winding.

One more difference is-
In ceiling magnetic flux is outward while in table fan, magnetic flux is inward.

Why thwe Direction of Rotation of a TABLE Fan & CEILING Fan are different? ..

In general engineering most of the threads are right handed.
So it is more economical to thread righthanded thread
instead of left handed thread which is slightly costlier.
Coming to the direction of rotation of the ceiling fan, the
stator is fixed on to the hung member from the ceiling, is
generally threaded on to the stator.
During the function of the fan rotation, it is preferable
to have the reactional force experienced by the stator to
be clock wise so that the threaded joint is not loosened
and lead to any untoward accidents.

On the other hand a table fan's stator is not threaded
along the axis of the rotor and hence the direction of
rotation is not a problem.
As people are more used to clock wise rotation, the table
fan is also designed to rotate clock wise.

The reason is not known to me exactly, but we have changed
the blade angle and the direction of motor was reversed and
found that it will work equally good.

Before i went to bed my master bathroom lights were working fine. At 2 am, when I went to use the lights, none of them were working. The outlets throughout the bathroom work, but the lights and fan above the toilet don't. I have two panels of switches. The one panel has four switches. One of the switches turns on the hall light, and that works. The other three are to other lights, and they don't. The other panel has three switches. One of those is to the fan, and the other is to a light above the toilet. The other is a to light that is also on that other panel. I tried the breakers, and the one that turns off the outlets, marked for the bathrooom, turns on and off the outlets. None seemed to be tripped. I checked the lightbulbs, and they are fine. Please help
