Reactance of capacitor X = 1/(2πfc)
Since f=0, for dc frequency is zero.
So, Reactance X will be infinity for dc.
means capacitor blocks dc and allows only ac to pass

Only high frequency
allowed to pass
through the capacitor,
& dc supply has
0(zero) frequency due
to this reason
capacitor work on only
ac.

for a capacitor in case of DC source applied over it first half of its period it goes on charging but it is not getting time for discharge because for DC source the current is constant . That's why it is working as break in dc circuit.
