Answer / prathap
because frequence F=PN/120 where p= no of poles and N=speed
so in generating station they maintained constant speed

1) There are two types of losses
constant loss
variable loss dependent on frequency
So if frequency is increased losses will increase
2) The Indian temperature is higher and hence High frequency
can further heat up wiring.
3) Reduce the frequency the efficiency of transmission lines
will fall

Actually we are following British standard
Main reason
1.Atmospheric condition because USA people's using 110v,60Hz so size of the conductor is big one instead of we are using 220v 50hz s0 size of conductor is less and investment also less.
2.Size of conductor increases amount of heat increases.

For stable ac power distribution , frequency bandwidth is
between 40Hz - 70Hz .Since 40Hz is near to unstable so 50Hz
fequency is standardised in India

what is the difference between the 94 lockout relay and 86 lock out relay. I have noticed that the 94 lockout relay is activated when the distance realy is activated and 86 is activated when the 87T differential is activated. but why can't the same lockouts be used for both the protection schemes
I find that underground strip-armoiured,4core,LT PVC cables in an earthed power distribution sytem are occasionly found in charred condition-with no trace of it except ash. Is this because of no proper earth connection/continuity (giving rising to high armour resistance)in the joint enroute or because of insufficient capability (again due to high armour resistance)of cable-armour to carry fault current or due to neglected /unprotected overloading of the cable or due to high armour currents caused by power thefts where only phase(s) are unauthorisely tapped & at the point of poer consumption earth terminal is established by burring underground a not so good earthing rod (or using an underground water pipe for the purpose)
