Answer / shalini.b
capacitor bank value is calculated in KVAR
From Power Triangle,
KVAR = Sin(phi) * KVA
Desired Power factor = 0.96 (say)
cos(phi)=0.96
phi = cos(inv)0.96
phi= 36.86
Sin(phi)= 0.28
If the transformer rating is 1250 KVA (say)
KVAR = 0.28*1250
= 350

what is meant by transformer oil temparature
what do you mean by PF correction. A motor is rated at 15 kw,415 volts, 0.7 pf and eff of 0.92. The powerfactor is improved to 0.98 by adding capacitors at the bus. calculate the current drawn by motor under full load condition before and after pf correction

Why we use the D-curve MCBs in critical power distrubution.
Why you are switching off arc protection mcb when you are taking shutdown for lv board.
can I connect step down transformer(25KvA,240V Phase to phase)to output of online UPS(15KvA,440V PHASE TO PHASE) Load connect to TRANSFORMER is 13KvA,240V PHASE TO PHASE. please brief if it is wrong
Please tell me if you are electrical engineer,and you are appointed for the maintainance of Electrical Power plant,then which parts of the plant deal with you.Also tell how these parts/components work.
Why is it preferred to use a wattmeter(s) to measure power in three phase systems rather than using a combination of other instruments e.g. voltmeters, ammeters etc?
