The live conductor provided with a panel /switch
boards /ower distribution boards/ bus bucts & rising
mains are known as Bus bars.
Normally these are made up of Cu or Aluminium. They are
solid materaial normally in a rectange ed flat size of
different dimension based on the amount of current it has
to carry.
Why it is called as bus bars it is a question.
Bus is a one which transports men and material from one
place to other. Now that these bar transport power from
one place to other they may be named so.
some had aid in olden days the buses and trams which
transport people had a a continious holder at the celing
leval of the bus for men to hold were made up of Alu or Cu
bars , which were looking like thse bus bars.

I agree with you ram to some extent.
i have visited some power generating stations where the bus
bars are made of thick hollow spherical copper or aluminum
conductors.
Reason being that AC always has the tendency to flow on the
outer surface of the conductor which we call the skin effect.
I have seen rectangular strips too but not on the generating
stations but on the panels.
donno the exact reason behind

How to select circuit breakers rating eg. if i select a circuit breakers of capacity 40 amps DC with operating voltage 28 volts and if i what to use same circuit breakers for 300 Volts DC application what is the current rating of this circuit breakers.
Any one can explain if there is any harm from humming noise heard from air circuit breaker : we have 415 switch board having two incomers from transformers 3.3KV/415V , when bus coupler closed, and open one ACB incomer to work in one of the transformers, the current started hunting around 50 Amps, and heard humming noise from the air circuit breaker, although the load current was only 1200 amps while the ACB capacity is 2500 Amps, and the transformer 1600 KVA. The same didn't happen when taken the other transformer offline. Why this humming noise and current fluctuation? is there any implication or danger, bearing in mind that we just returned everything back to normal and stopped the maintenance of the transformer. Shall we go ahead and ignore this noise?
