In distribution transformers, fuse wires are very thin when
compared to conductor size. How it's possible?

it is because.... the resistivity of the fuse wire is very
less compare to that of conductor wire...
so the area of the fusewire can be less compared to the
conductor wire...
and fuse wire can't be used for conductor because it will
not have enough mechanical strength..
generally conductor wire is copper and fuse wire of
nichrome...

Fuse wire used for protection purpose..so it is with
specific current carrying capacity and melting point.so
current capacity of fuse element is always less than
current carrying conductor.Due that reason only both
current carrying conductor and fuse wire with different
size,different material and legth too....

It is possible because of the length of the fuse wire. the
Shorter it is, lesser will be the resistance. Hence it can
withstand the same current as the conductor.

U might need to check again, some uneducated technician
would have installed the thin wire. Replace it immediately
and confirm me and dont repeat such mistakes.
