Answer / bikash c pal

I think The question who have asked, wanted to ask that "AT
THE TIME OF START-UP A POWER PLANT....." & NOT "AT THE TIME
OF INSTALLING THE POWER PLANT ...."-------------If my above
assumption is true, then the answer WILL BE as follows :-

TO BRING THE GENERATOR NEAR TO SYNCHRONUS SPEED DURING
START UP.

Answer / natrajan tt

normally nobodies given to the supply directly to the
generator. In a power plant installation time they are drawn
supply from grid and given to the step down transformer like
11kv/430v for boiler and turbine auxiliaries startup use,
otherwise if ur possible to giving the supply to generator
it will act like a motor.Breaker capacity & Cable size or no
of runs to be added.

Answer / s.p.p.pathirana

The perpose is connecting grid power to the power plant
generators for syncronized both the system such as
(volt,freqency,and phase sequence)generator or alternator
has coupled to the engine. according to the question that
motor will turn engine to the oposite derection and engine
may damaged. there for generator have protection system to
prevent this. its call reverse power protection. power
plant for support to the grid and have connected grid power
cable to the generators through individual there circuit
breakers. generator breaker cannot close with engine
standby mode. if this correct please try to understand.
