ups- uniterruptable power supply. UPS is used for typical
load.
1. ON LINE UPS
2.OFF LINE UPS
ONLINE:
The load is connected through ups. so load will not
disturbed during normal power failure.
OFFLINE:
The load will interrupt after power failure.That is change
over time is in milli sec.

IN ON LINE UPS BATTERY IS CHARGING WITH MAINS. THAT MEANS
BATTERY IS CHARGED WITH LOAD & IF MAINS IS GONE IT WILL
COME IN LINE.
IN OFF LINE THRE IS SEPERATE ARRANGMENT FOR BATTERY.

UPS stands for uninterruptable power supply. supply only DC
current.
mainly use as a stand by power supply for DC equipment like
computers, access controls.
It has an interior batteries which are able to supply for
complete six hours. this period is enough to restore all
the information need during the failure of power. Usually
it is always connected to AC power and has a toggle switch
which will be active in case of power failure.

In a overhead system why the voltage between line &ground is taken for basic comparison ?and in case of underground cables the comparison take only by the voltage between cables?
