A car travels a certain distance taking 7 hrs in forward journey, during the return journey increas..

Answer / mohammed siddiqui

options are wrong, the correct answer is 210 km

s= d/7 forward (speed = dist/time)

s+12 = d/5 return journey
d/7 + 12 = d/5
d/7 - d/5 = -12
(5d - 7d)/35 = -12
-2d = -12x 35
d = 210

A car travels a certain distance taking 7 hrs in forward journey, during the return journey increas..

Answer / priyanka saraf

s= d/7 forward (speed = dist/time)

s+12 = d/5 return journey

7s=d == 5s+60=d
==> 7s=5s+60
==> s = 30

==> d = 7*s
= 7*30
= 210

A car travels a certain distance taking 7 hrs in forward journey, during the return journey increas..

Answer / thangamariappan

forward journey:
let speed be x km/hr and time be 7hrs
(i.e) Distance = speed * time => x*7=7x.....equ 1

Return journey:
speed increases by 12km/hr (ie) speed = x+12km/hr and
time =5 hrs
(i.e) Distance = speed * time => (x+12)*5=5x+60...equ 2

Equating 1 & 2 we get
7x=5x+60==> 2x=60=> x=30 means 30km/hr

Distance Travelled = speed * time ==> 30km/hr*7hrs=210 km
hence answer be 210 kms
