Answer / ajay daultani
DC drives are used for DC motors speed control whereas ac
drives are used for AC motors . Moreover DC drives have
only converter whereas ac drives have both converter and
inverter . in DC drives , thyristors are normally used for
converter whereas in Ac drives , thyristors/IGBT/ IGCT are
used dependong on the applications .

in dc drives speed control is done by armeture control
(below base speed)and field control(above base speed)while
in ac drives speed control is done by changing th frequncy.

drives are used only for motion control so if you are
talking about ac or dc drives then both are only used for
motor speed control by controlling ac or dc output voltage

1)A drives is use to control the speed of motor and also we can say the machine which are rune by the AC or DC motor,so As its name AC drive is use to control AC motors and DC Drives is use to control DC motor.
2)AC driver is run on the AC supply and DC drive is run on DC supply so first it convert AC to DC by the Brush
3)BCZ of this brush there are spark is produce so DC drives are not use at patrol-pump etc dangerous place,
