As a QA person you should
1. Understand the requirement thouroughly
2. Decide/follow the correct test approach
3. Identify major test points and functions
4. Use the test management tool to document the test
artefacts
5. Follow the test life cycle and bug life cycle religioulsy
6. DO NOT neglect/hesitate to raise the defect.
7. Close the defect only if you are satisfied with the
clarification/fix.
8. Produce the test status reports timely
9. Raise the issues, risks and flag them to the concern
person immediately.

As a QA person you have major resposibility which you have always in mind :
*.What is objective of the product which you going to test.
*. Understand the system Requirement specification and business requirement specification
*. Understand business and user specification
*. Make proper test cases for each module .(Functional either non- functional )
*.Provide quality to product .
*. Follow the test life cycle and bug life cycle .
*. DO NOT neglect the minor defect.
*. Close the defect if it is fixed ,if not fixed then you have valid reason why this defect not resolved
*. Produce the test status reports timely
*. Raise the issues, risks and flag them to the concern
person immediately.
*.Validate all the issue /defect at the end .Simply check product made by developer is working as per user requirement or not .
