surge suppressors are used to protect the contactor from
heavy current. it is nothing but a simple circuit of
resistor and capacitor. It helps to suppress the surge.

Surge suppressor is nothing but a Lightning arrestor.
It consists of a spark gap in series with a non-linear
resistor nd provides protection to terminal equipment 4m
high voltage travelling waves.

The voltage supplied to any electrical device is regulated

safe threshold.
