Spices are dried flower or seed or part of plants, which is usually very aromatic or taste giving substances of the dish example, cardamon, cloves, etc. Spices are commonly most used in most Indian food.
Where as Herbs are mostly Leaves of the plants which may or not dried. Usually used for flavoring the dish, examples thyme, Basil, etc. & Herbs are seen in most continental foods.
