it is used for industriale and domestic purpose such as
lighting,heating and runing electric moter. but ther are
many application{e.g:-electronic cercuit}wher DC supply is
needed.when such a DC supply is required the main AC is
rectifed by using crystal diod.

rectifier is a diode component ckt. used for converting a.c voltage signal into pulsating d.c voltage which contain some a. c component in form of ripples.. and if u want to get pure d. c voltage.. u need a filter ckt. with rectifier...
