Hi,
Private branch exchange is nothing but communication
between the switch board and associated equipment
A telephone exchange serving a single organization, having
a switchboard and associated equipment, usually located on
the customer's premises; provides for switching calls
between any two extensions served by the exchange or
between any extension and the national telephone system via
a trunk to a central office.
Mainly used for telecom testing

Pbx testing as you mean VOIP test. has 2 phase at least
functional test and performance test. each contain a wide
area of parameters. if you want to learn more RADCOM,
SPIRENT and AGILENT have a great document about test.
