What are the some advantages of using Time Division
Multiplexing (TDM) as applied to commercial systems?

Answer / prankster
In Tdm ....users use the same Bandwidth in turns ...a single
frequency channel divided into slots and users transmit in
slot allotted to them ...so same channel can be used by
different users ...its allows efficient Bandwidth utilization

Answer / visakh
In TDM, different users share the same channel based on
time slots alloted to them. Each user or source is given a
particular time slot to send its information.
Advantages:
1. The entire channel BW is available for a particular time
interval unlike in FDM where the channel BW is split into
smaller segments. This enables higher data rates.
2. All users share the same frequency, so spectrum
efficieny is increased. Available channel BW is no more a
constraint.
3. TDM is very useful since it takes advantage of the
bursty nature of voice signals. Voice data is not
continuous, it happens in bursts. Other users transmit data
during the slots of silence using TDM.

Are you asking about TDM -vs- IP for desktop commercial telephone systems? That would be a question I would like to talk about.
Is This Answer Correct ? | 6 Yes | 2 No |
Answer / priyanshu
"In TDM we can transmit two signal simultaneously".We know
that in TDM every user can transmit with a given interval
of time during this time we can transmit another signal by
making the use of guard band time.

Answer / aasdeep singh
Fewer wires and simpler receiver used to transmit data from multiple sources to multiple destination, which makes TDM less in cost.

utilization of BW is very important in any communication .so
this is efficiently done in tdm.

.We want to compare the performance of a single threaded disk server with a multithreaded 1. Suppose the server takes 25 ms to receive a request for work from client, dispatch the request for processing and actual data request processing when reqd. Data is in main memory. If the reqd. Data is not in the main memory a real disk operation is needed and an additional 75 ms are reqd. On the average. On the average 25% of the clients requests access the disk. During the disk I/O period the thread waits. Assume that there is no other process in system when the server is running. How many requests can the server handle per second if its a)single threaded b)multithreaded
