why, when birds sit on transmission lines or current wires
doesn't get shock?

why, when birds sit on transmission lines or current wires doesn't get shock?..

Answer / senthil kumar.a

basically the current is flow b/w only a closed circuit.the
current is flow when circuit is closed. the birds are sit
either phase or netural . it cause the circuit is not
closed. so no current flow there, sometimes u seen the
birds are dead, at that time they wings are un fortunately
touch the any other line,

not birds only in case we r touch the any one line we
cannot get shock,

why, when birds sit on transmission lines or current wires doesn't get shock?..

Answer / maris

ok... try another way :)
its true that if birds touch the single one line (phase or
neutral) than they don't get electrical shock... if birds
touch 2 lines than the circuit is closed and they get
electrical shock.. so if a human touch single one line
(phase) then he doesn't get shock if he is in the air (not
touching - standing on the ground. if he is standing on the
ground then touching the line (phase) he will get a shock
because the ground on what we standing is like line (ground
bed - like neutral). and in the most of electric lines the
neutral is grounded... so that means that human who touch
the line closes the circuit between phase and neutral...
there is more technical explanation, but I think that I wont
be able to explain it in English and without drawing...
so I hope that u got some kind of understanding... :)

why, when birds sit on transmission lines or current wires doesn't get shock?..

Answer / maris

to Senthil Kumar.a
we wount get shocked if we don't touch the ground, because
ground also is like neutral and then the circuit is closed
and we get shocked.

why, when birds sit on transmission lines or current wires doesn't get shock?..

Answer / murali

basic requirement for flow of current is the circuit must
be closed. when a bird sitting on a single phase there
would not any path for flow of current

because brids will sit in a single (phase) ckt is not
closed in it so, ....... .

why, when birds sit on transmission lines or current wires doesn't get shock?..

Answer / amey

firstly,we know that for flow of current in the ckt., it
(ckt.) must be closed. The transmission wires are live
wires. One thing is to be remmber that if we touch only live
wires (without touching any neutral wires) we doesn't get
shocke.when live & neutral wires are in contact then we
said that ckt. is closed.and birds sit on trasmission wlres
then they are in contact only with live
wires.So,ckt.doesn't get complected.so,they doesn't get
shock.

why, when birds sit on transmission lines or current wires doesn't get shock?..

Answer / vijay

why because, firstly we shold know that voltage is known as
potential difference that means to flow the electrons from
one place to another we need the energy difference.that is
why we always use to measure the voltage in between two
lines or line to neutral for example the line to line
voltage is 415 and then the line to neutral will be 240
volts simply there is no potential difference occur in a
single line
when the bird stand on a single line having same
potential if it is having saame potential then potential
difference will be zero that is y if we touch the neutral
wire we wont get shock pd is zero if no pd no shock

why, when birds sit on transmission lines or current wires doesn't get shock?..

Answer / sabitha rahul

BECAUSE there is no potential difference between the 2 legs
of the bird.current will flow only if there is a potential
difference.

why, when birds sit on transmission lines or current wires doesn't get shock?..

Answer / nathan

because there is no closed path, tha current flows only in a
closed circuit.birds sit in a single wire, ther is no
problem.

why, when birds sit on transmission lines or current wires doesn't get shock?..

Answer / yogesh

the bird doesn't get shock because we know current flows
only through a closed circuit with low impedence now due to
presence of high impedence because of absence of any
conductor between bird and ground the current can't have any
connection with ground and hence closed ckt or closed path
can't be established between bird wire and ground hence the
bird doesn't get shock.
