Role of QA.
1. responsible for audits, reviews and time to meetings
2. make a healthy environment with team members.
3. building the confidence among customers
4.Collect the requirements from customers and try to make
them satify
5.breaks the projects into several Modules
6. follow the diffent tecniques to reduce the defect from
the module.
7. complete the testing process within the time limit

All the answers are great. Just wanna add. Q.A. the term is
the answer dude.. Quality Assurance. Now Quality team is
responsible to do the internal audits of whether the proper
quality is being maintained during the product life-cycle.
Now if ur company has some quality affiliation like ISO CMM
etc, when these ppl come for external audits, these
internal quality ppl are the ppl who are responsible to
actuually retain the project/s. If during external audit
the affiliation goes, the company is gone.... so if u knw a
quality person thank him nxt time u c him... by the way am
just a tester and not a quality guy.

The major role of QA is Process Compliance. QA has to ensure
the process deviations are fixed and prevent their
recurrence. He also plays a vital role in the continuous
improvement of the organization.

In an organisation QA or PM will prepare test strategy about
the project.He will prepare this strategy depending on
scope of the project,Type of the project and Risks involved
in the project.While preparing he concentrates on some
factors such as time,budget,Scope,Roles and
Resposibilties,Change and Configuration,Risks,Defect
reporiting,Communcation and Status reporting,Automation
etc... He will also check i,e inspect how much work is
done,how much is yet to be done at times,Reason for the
slip age etc.He will be responsible for the entire project
including client interactions.
Correct me if i am wrong and if you can elaborate it little
bit more we will gain little more.
