I would like to share my experience and paper of Satyam Computers held on
8th & 9th Dec 2006 at Chennai.

Three Rounds were there of Aptitude,GD,& Hr.

The first round was the Online Aptitude Test. 15 multiple choice
questions to be answered in Half an hour.

But this time the marks allocation was different from the former patterns.
There were seperate marks for each question, based on the complexity of
the question.

Negative marks for each wrong question. If the question is of 3 marks and
we attempted wrong answer, then 25% ie 1/4th of 3 marks be cut from
total score and this was same for the remaining all.

1. Two trains A & B of different lengths are travelling and remaining
parrt of the question i forgot.
Find the time when the two trains will completely cross each other in
opposite direction when the speed of the trains are 42kmph and 48kmph and
find the time when the two trains will complately cross each other when
the trains in the same speed are moving in the same direction.




2. A person invests Rs2000/- on SI of 1 paisa and a rupee for a month. How
much he'd get at the end of 4 months.

(a) Rs. 2080 (b) Rs. 2070 (c) Rs. 2060 - i think this should be the
answer
(d) Rs. 2000 (e) None of these.

3. A's Height is less than 100m tall. B is taller than A
(I) B is 3 times taller than A
(II)A is 30m shorter than B
(a) Statement (I) alone is enough
(b) Statement (II) alone is enough
(c) Both the statements are required to conclude
(d) (I) and (II) are independently sufficient
(e) Relationship cannot be determined.


4. An easy problem on permutations.

5. One paragraph was given and 5 options for answer. We have to select
the answer which does not states the meaning of the paragraph.


6. Number series which is followed by the difference of 48.

7. A problem on ages.

8. There are 9 cities 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 and 9. In how many ways can the city
8 be connected from other cities, directly or indirectly.Like that on
equestion is given. It is also easy only. We can do that.

9. A triangle has its height 5m less than its base. If the area of the
triangle is 24sq m, what is the value of height.

Formula Area if triangle = 1/2 x base x height
clue: height = base - 5

Be confident and concentrate on each question. We will have enough time
to solve these questions.


The next day was the GD round. There were 10 candidates in each group.
They selected candidates depending on their Body Language, Topic
Presentation, Points to the topic, Conclusion and ofcourse behaviour.

Few GD topics are

1. Should Cell phones be banned in colleges & universities
2. Braindrain- is it good for india .
3. Should Softdrinks be banned in India. (My topic)


After the topic was given, they gave us 2mins time to think on it and
then discussion was prolonged on that topic for 10mins.

Results were announced nearly 50% of the people are selected for HR round.

The Technical HR & General HR was in one round itself.

Hr asked me very basic questions in technical round.


Q: Say something about urself
Ans: I told about myself confidently .

Q: What is your father?
Ans:i said that he was a proffesor.

Q: difference between Windows os & unix os?
Ans: windows is GUI based & unix is CUI based

Q: differnce between C++ and C?
Ans: C++ is OOP oriented whereas C is not

Q: tell me something about Software industry?
Ans: Explained for 7 mins

I got selected in Hr round.

This is my experience with Satyam. Hope this helps you and i like to meet
as many aspirants as possible at Satyam.

The recruitment process of consagous had three rounds. 1. Group discussion 2. Written test 3. Technical interview/ HR The first round was GD. I got the topic “should India break up the friendly ties with Pakistan”. The group had 20 students. After the discussion each student was given a chance to express his/her views on the topic. The second round was written test. The paper was purely technical. It had a total of 50 questions. Out of which 5 questions were subjective. Those questions were: 1. What is RTTI? 2. What is containership? 3. Describe the lifecycle of asp.net page. 4. Why an empty structure occupy 2 bytes memory? 5. What is the difference btw compilation of C++ and C#? The objective questions had some programming questions. Other than that some questions that I remember are: • What is the complexity of binary search algo? • The factor that affects the complexity of an algorithm is a. The maximum amount of memory needed by the algorithm b. The minimum amount of memory needed by the algorithm c. The avg amount of memory needed by the algorithm d. The maximum amount of disc space needed by the algorithm • The class which is used to perform basic console I/O? Ans. System • Which is the first phase of s/w development lifecycle? Ans. Analysis This is all I remember….. The last round was interview. 46 students were selected for the interview. HR questions: • Describe yourself. • Did u held some leadership position in your college (because I mentioned that I was captain in school) • Then they read two aptitude questions(easy ones) and I had to answer them but the condition was that they were not going to repeat the question. • What is your short term and long term goals? • Why your marks decreased in college? • At last they asked about their company. Technical question: • What is the difference between C and C++. • What are access specifiers? • What is a static variable? • How can we define a variable globally? • What is a namespace and assembly? • What is an intermediate language? • Describe your project. • What is the difference between cookies and sessions? And many more……. Finally I got selected after this.
