A heavy motor connected on heavy load can not be started
directly in delta because in delta connection starting
current may exceed on alarming level and motor may going
to burnt out. so minimize the level of starting current such
motor should be started in star thereafter delta in smooth
speed.

What are the relative advantages of using Star Delta Starter compared to other starters?
