Why KBR is used in IR for preparation of pellete, why it shows zero dipole moment..

Answer / aditya

KBr is an ionic compound so we use in the formation of pellet
on the other other hand it should be dried before using because it is hygroscopic nature at room temparature
KBr had Zero Dipole moment beacuse of it's iomiic nature

Why KBR is used in IR for preparation of pellete, why it shows zero dipole moment..

Answer / s.ramakrishna

kbr is ir inactive,it does not shows any peaks in ir region and no response gives in 4000 to 400cm- and also kbr shows better resolution than kcl

Why KBR is used in IR for preparation of pellete, why it shows zero dipole moment..

Answer / ankur dwivedi

Yea ....one can use KCl also. As it is also alkali halide and it does not absorb in IR spectral range.
