see the first digit stands for protection against solid and
second digit stands for liquid protection...
IP 54:- 5 (first digit)- limited particles of dusts can
enter in the panel,
4 (second digit)- if the water is splashed from any
direction then also it can not approach to the components.
IP 55:- first digit is same so please see above.
5 (second digit) The panel shall be protected against low
pressure jet from any direction.

IP54 enclosures have a high level of protection against particles, and a fair amount of protection against water and IP55 enclosures that demonstrate almost complete protection from particles and a good level of protection against water.
