compounds having lamda max values,we can use UV detector
compounds which are not having lamda max value(uv inactive),we can use RI detector

Compounds having chromophore(e.g;delocalised benzene ring)are uv active without chromophore they are not uv active while RID is universal detector irrespective of nature of compounds.

UV Detector detect Only those analytes of UV absorbance .
But RI detector detect Maximum analytes with different RI
