Why the gear drives said to be power transmitting device? While it transmitting motion only...

Answer / palash

Transmitting motion in different rotational speed , changes
the transmission of torque from the driver to the driven
shaft using the same power input

As we know power p=2*pi*n*T/60 so if you change the n the
torque will automatically be changed. So Geared devices can
change the speed, torque, and direction of a power source.
That's why car changes the gear to get desire power at a
prticular elevation.

Correct me If you think otherwise.
Thanks..

Why the gear drives said to be power transmitting device? While it transmitting motion only...

Answer / dwivedi4uforever

For it suppose a belt drive moving from tight side to slack side then then tension in tight side T1 and slack side T2 that is why (T1-T2) * velocity(motion) = N-m/s = jule/s = power. From here it is said to be power transmitting device.
