only the leakage current flows through neutral in a 3phase system, so size 0.5 core is enough for neutral...

from 3.5c cable we can save cost instead of using 4c cable.in 3.5c cable .5c is using only for neutral for completing path.

IT DEPENDS ON THE LOAD SITUATION AT THAT PARTICULAR PLACE. IN CASE THERE IS MOE THAN 50% MOTOR LOAD I.E. 3 PHASE LOADS ONLY AND LESS OF SINGLE PHASE LOADS; THEN IN THAT CASE WE COULD USE 3.5C CABLES. BUT WHERE THE AMOUNT OF SINGLE PHASE LOADS ARE MAXIMUM AS COMPARES TO 3 PHASE LOADS; THEN IN THOSE CASES IT WILL BE NECESSARY TO USE 4C CABLES.
