Answer / dharamveer yadav
as we know in industry there is both inductive and
capacitive load for better efficiency and life of equipment
we require to maintain power factor at unity otherwise
there is leading or lagging power fator and which is not
desire for better efficiency and if your power factor is
goes down to .8 then you have to pay charge for that

although he is right...but usually
the pf is not improved to
unity ...because under light load
conditions....it will become leading
and deliver power...so pf is imprvd
till the point savings is max...and of
course the best efficiency alngwith
economy....dats y there is a need
to maintain pf in
industries....where we can achieve
savings in energy terms...

Power factor is very important for the industries,as they
are main source of inductive loads and it is a burden on
the power transformers(less kVA utilzation),so the power
factor to be maintained above 0.8 pf and also the same to
be monitred to avoid the penalties from the distribution
companies.

pf is maintained to close to
unity....to avoid leading pf
operation when lightly loaded....to
save enrgy monitorng is necesary..
