in this question he has not mentioned the object..its solid
it may be metal or non-metal...so when you will increase
the temperature of metals above its critical temperature
its will start melting..but in non metals solid may
burn...its acoording to my knowledge.....

every materials are made up of binded molecules.whenever the temperature the material is increase a molecular vibration may occur into it,at certain temperature that molecular bind may break,so there is a chance for volumetric expansion(increase)
