Normally there is a P&I( Process and Instrumentation)
diagram not E&I diagram.In P&ID circle symbole related to
field mounted instrument while Square box with circle
inside is related to function in DCS.There is number of
other symbole in each catagory.

In P&ID, ESD signal is represented by a triangle with ESD
mentioned inside a triangle.
