In electic traction system , only one conductor is
hanged to the high tension wire and second is rail is
neutral or return parth

Answer / rajesh
electric traction runs on single phase only ,so no 3 phase
question arises .
secondly in the two wires connected to a mast . one wire is
live wire i.e the wire which is touched by train is live
wire carrying 25000volts ac . the other qwire above it is
supporter wire which maintains tension and structure of
catenary ( traction design) . it is nuetral . when electric
train touches the live one ,ckt becomes complete and gnd is
returned to earth through track .this forms basis of track
ckt and block signalling.
