the genrator is design for lagging p.f. because normally
genrator run on normal p.f.,but sometimesthe force of input
is very high.so in this way the generator does not
working.so we design generator for lag p.f.

IF generator is designed for leading power factor then, the
leading current will harms the windings of generator and
ultimately the there will be damage of whole machine.
