why capacitors cant used in genset to maintain power factor..??..

Answer / gopal manda

as you know capacitor provide the reactive power in the
line.for synchronous alternator it also provide the reactive
power in line with increasing its excitation.then there is
no need of capacitor for alternator.when inductive load is
increase in the line.it absorb the more reactive power from
the power system.so provide the reactive power in the power
system it connected to load end.

why capacitors cant used in genset to maintain power factor..??..

Answer / n k singh

The main purpose of capacitor is to generate reactive power
and hence improves the power factor. Therefore it must be
installed at load end otherwise if we install at source end
then there will be transmission loss till the load
point, which is undesirable, hence it must be at load end.
