emf of a single cell is 2V

It is due to the fact that to make a battery work we need
atleast 2 plates viz. +ve and a -ve one.so mostly battery
voltage is in multiple of 2.

In 3 phase induction motor even with low Voltage it reaches nearly it's rated speed why? (for example instead of 400V it reaches with 250V)
