Suppose you have hot oil and cold water, what kind fluid you
flow In shell side and tube side and why?

Suppose you have hot oil and cold water, what kind fluid you flow In shell side and tube side and w..

Answer / sagar mashru

Hot Fluid should be passed from tube side. Because, If hot
fluid is passed from shell side than there will be heat loss
and there will also be a question of safety because of hot
surface on outer side.

Suppose you have hot oil and cold water, what kind fluid you flow In shell side and tube side and w..

Answer / vikram

hot fluid should passed from tube side because it is easy to
clear the tube side or we can easily replaced the tube if
fouling kind of things happen which will reduce the rate of
heat transfer, while cold water should passed through shell side

Suppose you have hot oil and cold water, what kind fluid you flow In shell side and tube side and w..

Answer / kln

We have to consider the properties like corrosivity,
fouling factor etc.. while selecting the t/s or s/s fluids
in an exchanger. More fouling/corrosive material to be
selected on t/s as cleaning or replacement of tubes are
easy.

Suppose you have hot oil and cold water, what kind fluid you flow In shell side and tube side and w..

Answer / k manoj kumar

Thank you guys. I have seen your answers. I have a doubt about it. Oil is neither corrosive nor acidic. Then why can't we send it through shell side?

Suppose you have hot oil and cold water, what kind fluid you flow In shell side and tube side and w..

Answer / umar

when both the fluids have equal corrosiveness, the fluid of high pressure should pass the tube side. Because the tendency of tubes to collapse by external pressure is double to that of by internal pressure.

DIFFERENTIAL EQUATIONS - EXAMPLE 20.2 : During the landing process of an airplane, the velocity is constant at v. (a) If the displacement of the plane is x at time t, find the differential equation that relates t, x and v. (b) The plane has 2 parts of wheels - the front and the back, separated by a distance L. The front part of the wheel touches the land first, that allows the straight body of the plane to form an angle T with the horizontal land. If the vertical distance between the back part of the wheel and the horizontal land is y, find the equation of y as a function of L and T. (c) Find the differential equation that relates dy as a function of dt, v and sin T. (d) Find the differential equation that consist of dy as a function of y, L, v and dt. (e) Find the equation of y as a function of v, L, t and C where C is a constant. (f) When t = 0, prove that y = exp C as the initial value of y.
