Before commissioning of alternator following electrical tests should be done on site-
(1) IR and PI of generator
(2) Winding resistance of generator
(3) IR and winding resistance for PMG and excitor field winding.

You should check that the alternator is aligned properly
with the generator motor. this should be done according to
the manufacturers specs. Rotate the alternator and check the
gap between the rotor and the stator. Also this should be
provided by the Manufacturer. Then take and IR and PI test
and record your findings. Check that the data is on the
right parameters. And also check the wirings for the CTs.
Depending if they are European or US manufactured the flow
of the current may vary a give you incorrect trips during
commissioning.
