Why does the phase voltage of two healthy phases become
equal to the line voltage in case of an ungrounded neutral
3 phase star connected sytem when a single line to ground
fault occurs ?

Answer / shahzad
in my point of view that the when single line to ground
fault occurs that phase return and then we get phase
voltage of two healty phaase become equal

The question what u have asked is technically termed
as "ARCING GROUND".
DUE TO VIRTUAL CAPACITANCE, THE VOLTAGE B/W THE LINE -
GROUND IS ALWAYS PHASE VOLTAGE.BUT IN THE CASE OF LINE-
GROUND FAULT IN UNGROUNDED SYSTEM,THE GROUND & THE
TRANSFORMER BODY ITSELF ACT AS A PHASE (AS THERE IS DIRECT
CONTACT WITH GROUND).
this is cumulative effect, due to capacitance again the
voltage b/w the line to ground keeps on increasing.this
will increase the pressure on the insulation, arcing
occurs, ultimately leads to breakdown of the system.

How to connect the earthing in aircraft?
show that power dissipated by a pure inductor exited by a sinusoidal voltage source v = vm sin wt is zero
Why earthing is required, and what effect in earthing result is more than 5 ohm and less than 5 or equal to 0 ohm
WE know that for Inductor X=2pifL,In DC f=0,then X=0 so,V=IX=0;But In the DC excitation of rotor of AC generator,DC motor field coil which coils are inductor so why does not applying DC voltage short the rotor coil of AC generator and field coil of motor? If it would then DC source might be damaged but it is not happened. Why does the strand conductor of Electrical power transmission line make twist?
what is the proximity & ferranti effects can you explain to me
HOW DO YOU CAN CHECK A 15KV DIODE, WHETHER IT IS OK OR NOT?
Assuming that a dedicated neutral earthing transformer is provided for each GT generator, when the two generators are running in parallel, has consideration been given that the earth fault current from one generator stator winding be split between the two neutral earthing transformers? If so, what adverse impact will this have on the operation of the 59N and 27TN devices?
What is the effect of electric motor stuck in star configuration,
If we give 2334 A, 540V on Primary side of 1.125 MVA step up transformer, then what will be the Secondary Current, If Secondary Voltage=11 KV?
Based on CPI/CGPA they shortlist the candidates & than directly start Interview so there is no Written Exam or GD Only PI.Interview held @ MNNIT , ALLAHABAD On-Campus on 6th,Aug, 2007 & the Questions asked to me by Interview Board ( 4 People) are from HR/SummerTraining/BTP/Subject-core, POWER SYSTEM & MACHINE. time duration of I/V is about 15-20 Minutes. HR- Q.1 Name, hobbies & About family background ? Q2.What u know abt NTPC ?? Q3.Why u want to choose NTPC as ur Carrier's starting i.e power sector not any other Oragnisation or sector ?? Techincal Questions- Q1.What is the reason for transformer Noise ?? Q2.Which material is used for making Transformer oil & How u measure its dielectric strength & Name the test ? Q.3 Which Machine u will prefer 2 use if flammble gases are coming out at a place & why ?? Q4.What is relation b/w Transmission Lines & Communication Lines ? Q5.What is the maximum capacity Synchronus Machine & total powerGeneration in our country ? Q.6 In india Power generation is at 50Hz while in America its 60 hz ,why so ?? Advantage or disadvantage ?? Q.7 Maximum Generation Voltage in india ? Q8. What is the Voltage regulation & why its required n how much is permissible ? & causes of voltage variation ?? Q.9 Why electric shock is feel ?? n in a Electric Train why we didnt feel that ? Q.10 Have u seen/ experience of any power plant/ industry related to the power sector ? so these are the questions which not too diffcult i think was asked to me.
hoW to select a CT?
need to make a report. Need to choose a 3phase induction motor. Load conditions motor will operate in : Maximum Load: 30 Kw Speed: 2950 rpm Ambient temp: 20 cent Supply voltage: 440V Frequency: 50Hz need to look for the safety factor when choosing the motor, went through catalouge found a few, but dont know how to choose the safety factor allowing an extra load something above 30 KW to avoid any harm.
