as we do the work of changing piston ring
1.we check as per manual which ring will go on which groove
2.check for which side will be the top face of the ring some cases it is stamped on it otherwise it looks same from both side
3.compresssion ring ,sealing rings,scraper ring have different cut ,such as square ,angle and s type
4.after installing them turn them in such a way that no cuts will be on same line to avoid blow past and for proper sealing.if they the cut s are in same line then gas can pass to crankcase or scavenge space

deformed.roing should change. position depends on u if
three ring are there , make 120 degree approx.gap with each
ring open end
