in our transmisison sub station why we step down firstly
132kv\33kv then 33kv to 11kv. can we direct step down 132kv
to 11kv.

WE USUALLY FOLLOW THE SYSTEM OF TRANSMISSION OF TWO TYPES.
FIRST, WE STEP DOWN HIGHER VOLTAGES TO SLIGHTLY LOWER ONE TO
DISTRIBUTE SOME INDUSTRIES OR BIG CONSUMERS INCLUDING THE
LINE LOSSES. THEN WE USE THEM TO TRANS MITE TO DOMESTIC
PURPOSE. SO THEY KEEP THEIR VOLTAGE LEVEL HIGHER AS THERE IS
A HUGH AMOUNT OF LINE LOSSES IN THE TRANSMISSION LINE.
THAT'S WHY THEY SET DOWN FIRST AND THEN TO LOWER ONE.

usually this is done looking into the practical
requirements and availability of the transmission line. It
is not at all necessary that the HV 132 should be stepped
down to 33 KV. It can very well be directly stepped down to
11 KV. If we have a dual reqmt of 33 as well as 11KV.
132/33/11KV( pri/sec/ter) can also be designed.
