How we can calculate what type of supply we need for an
example sometimes we take 11 KV and sometime 33KV from EB ?

Answer / ghost
first of all these two numbers you mentioned - which are
11kV and 33kV - are not for supplying, they are for
transmitting the electricity from the power plant to the
utilities (homes) fr the purpose of reducing the losses.
Secondly, we use only either 120V or 240V depending on the
frequency that the country use which is 60 Hz or 50 Hz
respectively.

Electricity is generated from 3.3KV upto 11KV and is
transmitted.... the voltage (in KV) for x'mission is decided
upon the distance.. depending upon the distance we
differentiate x'mission at H.V ,EHV AND UHV...
THE HIGHER THE VOLTAGE OF X'MISSION LESSE IS THE LOSSES..
BUT ULTIMATELY AT THE FIX END OF THE UTILIY WE USE FOR 3 PH.
415V (PH-PH) AND 1 PH.230V (PH-N)... AT 50HZ.. FREQUENCY..

Power is transmitted at various voltages like 11,33,66,110KV
,230kV and 400KV in our country. In order to reduce
transmission line losses we prefer high system
voltages.Hence (1)if the distance is longer and also(2) if
an industry consumes power from 33kv system,33kv voltage
transmission system is availed.other wise we go for 11 kv
system depending upon our requirement as stated above.

Answer / s.a.k
Electricity is generated at 11 Kv, Stepped up and
transmitted over long distances at either 128/66/33 kv to
distribution substations near to the load.
for industrial purpose, 33 kv line is used as per the
requirement & for domestic purpose maximum 240 volts.
