snapshot and thumbnail are different.
Snap shot in Cognos impromptu 7 series create a report and
while saving the report there is a option(check box) like
snapshot.
Its nothing but, If you save report with snapshot, You can run
report with out database also.
Thumbnail option in Cognos Impromptu 7. Its usage is to test
the report data.

Snapshot is nothing but a exact photo copy of the
report.Once we save the report in .imr format,we never
modify that report.
thumbnail is used for testing purpose and how many rows u
want to dispaly in page.
