we can set security at three levels
object level,package level ,data security.
if your talking about the authentication regarding viewing
reports that can be set by the administrator depending on
the roles and responsibilities.

Securitys are 3 types..
1) Data level Security
2) Object Level Security
3) Package level Security
we are able to give the securties at the time of developing
packages in Framework manager and also at the time of
creating reports in Cognos connection(report
studio,Querystudio..etc..)

I think, the question is about how to provide a security to
he purticular report.
if so, publish report into another folder, then u create
two roles in cognos connection for the user, one is for
accessing all report, another role to access to this
purticular report..

Security to reports only, not for the model created.
So, a normal parameter map can be used to restrict some
users from viewing the confidential details of a company.
Normally a username and the quotient which is set for them,
so we can restrict them using the quotient no.
for eg:

cognos reportnet is molap or rolap ... somebady telling cognos reportnet is molap and other will be telling rolap ... i need extract answer
