F = S x L x T divided by 1000

F = Force in kilonewtons
S = shear stress of material in MPa
L = the total length of peripheries being cut/sheared in mm
T = thickness of material in mm

suppose square sheet 2 inch length ,2 inch with ,0.088 inch
thick

2+2+2+2=8
1" circular=3.14x1"=3.14

3.14x8x 50,000(shearing strength)=tonnage
