Piston is made of cast aluminium because of its high heat transfer rate.
Is This Answer Correct ? | 11 Yes | 3 No |
aluminium will be used for making piston because of its
high strength to weight ratio. it gives more strength wth
less amount of weight. the thermal conductivity of
aluminium is also very good so it can easily transfer the
heat from the piston to the cylinder walls.

AL Alloys and steel alloys are the material for piston in
IC engines... bcz of its light weight and high heat
resistence. with the help of alloying elements AL AND STEEL
are able to withstand with high pressure and temperature.

it may be both c.i and aluminium depending on the
requirement, beacause c.i can withstand high temp during
combustion and aluminium because of its light
weight.............
