to remove the ac signal.but capacitor blocks dc & allows
only ac. explain about it?

in rectifier circuit, if we use a capacitor parallal to its
output line, it'll only allow AC and then ground it. So
rest of the DC signal we can get from the output.

Answer / sonia
capacitor gets charged when AC supplied & when it reaches
the threshold value, it starts discharging, resultant of
which is linear.
ac has variable value, starting from smaller energy to
higher which allows the charging of capacitor.
dc has fixed value, & when this is supplied charging wont
take place resulting blockage.

capacitor acts as a short circuit to the ac , so we shorts
the ac components more notably ripples to the ground and
what we have left is the pure dc signal at output.

I think capacitor block the dc supply because of the
capacitor reactons is 1/2*3.142*f*c. so here frequence is
zero. if frequence is zero there is no current.
