Can anyone tell me how to calculate the quantity of a third
component added in an azeotropic batch distillation of a
known quantity of azeotropic mixture?
Answer / dinesh patil
The quantity is based on solubility of solvent at that
particular thempreture and Pressure.
At room temperture & pressure ,suppose the feed quanity is
as (A = 10 kg, B=15kg, solubility of solvent is 0.150 kg
of B/kg of sovent while that of A is negligible.
Solvent required to extract 15 kg of B = (15/0.150)= 1000
kg.
If we increase the T & / P solubility increase then we have
to take respective solubility value at that particular T
& / P while calculation the solvent.

Hi. I have completed my masters in chemical engineering from M S University in year 2008 and now going to do MS Chemical engineering in Lamar University. I am planning to appear for interview in two weeks from now. What are the expected questions from VO regarding masters after masters ? and wat should i expect to give reply ? kindly give your suggestions. Thanks

PROCESS DESIGN - EXAMPLE 21.2 : The names of the flow streams could be represented by : H1 for first hot stream, H2 for second hot stream, C1 for first cold stream, C2 for second cold stream. Data of supply temperature Ts in degree Celsius : 150 for H1, 170 for H2, 30 for C1, 30 for C2. Data of target temperature Tt in degree Celsius : 50 for H1, 169 for H2, 150 for C1, 40 for C2. Data of heat capacity Cp in kW / degree Celsius : 3 for H1, 360 for H2, 3 for C1, 30 for C2. (a) Find the enthalpy changes, dH for all streams of flow H1, H2, C1 and C2 in the unit of kW. Take note of the formula dH = (Cp) (Tt - Ts). (b) Match the hot streams H1 and H2 with the suitable cold streams C1 and C2 to achieve the maximum energy efficiency.
we have 2 O2/Comb Analyzers Servomex Model 2700 in service for one of the furnaces in our chemical plant. It is giving High Temperature Alarm. Checked Temperature and found it to be 800 Deg C whereas Set Point is 700 Deg c. It is strange why is temperature not at SP. Also response is 23 % with 21 % Inst Air and with N2 reading is not coming down. please clarrify this issuses very urgent

Question 109 - (a) Acceptable wavefunction in quantum mechanics in the range of : negative infinity < x < positive infinity, vanishes at least at one boundary. Which of the following is the wavefunction or are the wavefunctions of acceptable theory : P = x, P = | x |, P = sin x, P = exp (-x), P = exp (-| x |)? State the reason. (b) Let linear momentum operator P = -ih d / dz. The wavefunction is S = exp (-ikz) where i x i = -1, k and h are constants. Find the linear momentum of such wavefunction by using the term P x S.
