unit area. It is the internal resistance a material offers
to being deformed and is measured in terms of the applied load.

eg when the force acting on the body at unit area then the
material will undergoes strain ie (change in dimensions of
the body) then body exhibit some resistance to oppose
that force . the resistance of force is called stress .
