This is a multigrade oil
w - mean for cold season or winter season operation
15 - thinness at lower temperature
40 - thckness at higher temperature

it is multigrade oil.
W stands for winter whereas value 15 and 40 stands for the
value of viscosity at low and high ambient temperatures.
