Hi guys, Our company has started to automate testing and started using the tool QTP.Iam new to QTP and I have the following questions to ask. Would appreciate if anyone could give me a hand on this and explain things in a detailed way. [1] Bugs outside checkpoints: I know that I can easily make the QTP do what I want inside the application. Also, I know that I can insert some checkpoints and that the qtp will notice if those conditions are not met. However, there are bugs and problems that might not be connected to a checkpoint (system crash, database error, losing session/logout etc.); how can I make sure that the QTP will notice such problems as well and flag a test as failed. [2] How to tell the QTP that when a particular statement is "false",it should flag it as, test failed and show in in the test report. In short how to tell the qtp that a test is false from the script so that it shows it in the report For Eg:- if(true) test passed // how to instruct qtp else test failed // how to instruct qtp [3] Test script portability: we are having several environments; If I record a test on User Interface, obviously, the qtp will save the URL; however, how can I make the qtp run the tests so that the url is provided dynamically. Is there a possibility to parameterize the web server.Is this the way to do it.I dont know? [4] Test management: How do I manage the tests? I guess we will be doing it in Quality Center, yet, it’s not perfectly clear to me how we will be doing that. [5] Running scheduled test sets: How do I group tests to a certain test set? How can I make this test set run at a predefined time? [6] Test maintenance: What do we need to do beforehand in order to enable for easy test maintenance, meaning small adjustments in tests? Hi all , I am new at QTP I want a sample script to check validation messages(For java script or VB script) for login page with for web based application.. Any one can Help. I have to complete it in two days I need urgent help.. Ex. if I want to check mail.yahoo.com 1 > If user doed not exist it display "Username does not exist" 2> if invalid Uname and password then it display" Invalid Uname or pass" 3> Loing Sucssessfully. I want to check this types of application by using data table to give values of username and password.. Thanks

Hi All, I am new to QTP but i was trained on winrunner before. My problem is..QTP 8.2 was unable to record my application which is a java app. By selecting smart identification, i was somehow able to record the test BUT QTP cant run the test! Can anyone help me in walking through this problem..Is java addin really necessary for this?? Is there anyways i can run the test successfully? I am not sure whats going wrong in my testing.Please do help me asap as i need to submit the report early. Thanks in advance

in QTP, we have options like (record and play,recording modes(normal,analog,low level),object identification,smart identification,object repository,synchronizing test,transactions,checkpoints(std,bitmap,text,text area,DB,XML,accessibility),regular expression,actions,data driving,parameter,parameterization,data tables,recovery scenario(pop up,object state,test run error,application crash). real time users of QTP, pls say and when and at what point u have used all these options ,in ur concerned project.pls give me explanation in accordance with ur real time project handled. real users pls send some time in the aboue case. if u can send the the reply through allinterview or at ref_it_ref@yahoo.co.in
